Connecting us to each other and to what’s possible through storytelling.
Meet the Team
Hi, I’m Mel,
For more than 35 years, I’ve had the privilege of telling stories that connect us—stories that remind us what we share, what shapes us, and what becomes possible when we truly see one another.
My career has taken me from tiny regional newsrooms to hosting Sunrise for 15 years, reporting from royal weddings, Olympic Games, the Vatican, natural disasters, and some of the most defining moments in our national story. I’ve interviewed world leaders, everyday heroes, and extraordinary people who’ve trusted me with the most vulnerable chapters of their lives.
Those stories changed me. They taught me empathy, courage, and the power of showing up for one another. Along the way, I was honoured to receive an AM for my contribution to media and the community—an acknowledgment I hold with deep gratitude.
Today, whether I’m on stage as a keynote speaker and MC, on radio or on television, my purpose remains the same — to connect us to each other and to what’s possible through storytelling.
ON TELEVISION
The House of Wellness
I’ve spent my career telling the stories that have shaped our nation — across news, public affairs and live special events. From my years on Sunrise to This Is Your Life and The House of Wellness, my work has always centred on sharing the conversations that connect Australians every day.
ON RADIO
Smooth FM
Each weekend I’m on air nationally with Smooth FM — Australia’s most listened-to radio station — where I host the weekend breakfast show and share stories, music and moments that feel warm, easy and deeply connected.
ON STAGE
Speaking & Hosting
With decades of live television experience, I create a calm, engaging atmosphere where guests feel relaxed and ready to share. I’m known for gently bringing out the best in people and guiding conversations with warmth and ease.
I’ve hosted events and fireside chats for organisations including Vogue, Audi, Accor and the Australian War Memorial.
Here is what others have said —
ON PAPER
How to Age Against the Machine
Ageing isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey — and it shouldn’t be. This book is an invitation for women to age with intention, meaning and confidence. Through honest conversations, shared wisdom and practical insight, we explore what it truly means to grow older on your own terms — with clarity, purpose and power.
ON PAPER
Fifteen Seconds of Brave
In Fifteen Seconds of Brave, I share the extraordinary stories of eight people who faced unthinkable challenges — and found the courage to keep going. Their honesty, resilience and hard-won wisdom offer a reminder that even in our darkest moments, a few seconds of bravery can change everything.
ON PURPOSE
Charity Work
Giving back has always been an important part of my life. I’m proud to support a number of charities and community organisations, using my platform to raise awareness, share stories and help make a meaningful difference.
